Absolutely filthy, mess all over floor most tables not wiped and not cleared. Very unprofessional staff, with no interest in running a tight ship that a building as prestigious as the holborne deserves.

We arrived at lunch time after finishing our guided tour We were thirsty and needed lunch. Unfortunately there was hardly anything left on the nenu.No soup,no jackets, certain sandwiches off menu, no gluten free left, We had a ham roll ,and 50p extra for wee bit of lettuce on the side . We sat outside the young staff were polite. Expensive for what we had.

Look nice when we walked pass to go into town, so we popped in very disappointing, not much verity on offer and one gluten free option for my partner, pot of tea was not that great and trying to find a table that was clean no luck 😕 need to up there game.

Very poor menu, expensive, run of the mill toasted mozzarella and pesto so called sandwich!! Cheap white baguette, very poor value and tiny bit of salad with a nasty tasting dressing!!!

What a shambles. All the staff were very young and there didn't seem to be anyone in charge. Somebody came to clear the table after we had sat down and he spilt a glass of water on the table. But he didn't cone back to wipe it, just left it. We had to ask someone else -twice.
We ordered a breakfast tea and an Earl Grey tea, one with skimmed milk. The teas were dumped on the table without a word but both breakfast teas. I went up to change it, no apology, no interest. I also had to ask which was the skimmed milk.
One of the boys then dropped a pot of tea at the table next to us, which splashed on my daughter. No apology, no checking she was ok, no interest whatsoever in what he was doing or how the customers were affecred. Absolutely awful service all through.

Absolutely dismal food and disengaged dismissive service. Ordered a cheese, tomato and caramelised onion toasted sandwich. Received a hard dry bagel with two thin slices of unripe tomato, some shards of cheese and literally a scraping of pale brown sludge masquerading as caramelised onion. . Unappetising and disappointing.

Asked the staff to wipe the soaking wet table so we could sit down and he said he hasn't got time to wipe tables. 🤔

This is one our favourite spots to come for a quiet coffee and sit outside and have been coming for years. However, our experience on 28/08 was really disappointing. My husband ordered our drinks (a tea and a cappuccino). When they arrived, my husband went to stir his cappuccino and half the cup was froth. We’re never ones to send something back or cause a fuss, but my husband is a barista and knew his coffee had been made wrong and the milk over-airated. He quietly went to the waitress on her way back in, asking if he could just have a latte instead as he didn’t want to cause a fuss. A couple of minutes later and the barista stormed out to the table next to ours asking “what could be done differently to the coffee”. My husband said it was acutually him who sent it back and it was mostly froth, and just quietly asked if he could just have a latte instead. The barista raised his voice and was very confrontational asking for reasons why my husbands coffee wasn’t right. We felt very awkward and attacked as other customers started looking round at us. My husband just tried to diffuse it saying that it’s fine, and he’ll just have a latte instead. The barista then brought a latte out himself and was very passive aggressive towards us. Although we were kind and tried to not make a fuss, his ego was evidently hurt and ruined our experience. It’s such a shame and has made us wary about coming back.

I love the newly refurbished Garden Cafe. I went yesterday for lunch with a friend. The new chairs, new lighting and botanical wall are excellent. We both had the quiche and salad which was delicious and you have the option of hot and cold which I thought was really good. The service was excellent. Staff are welcoming, helpful and efficient. It was a lovely atmosphere and we enjoyed the new feature of music in the Cafe. We sat outside afterwards and had a cup of tea. There is plenty of seating outside. The only thing I would recommend would be a few more umbrellas for tables outside which would be good for when it's sunny and for the showers.

Lovely setting wasted on terrible cafe. I went as they used to do an amazing cheese board, well That was a couple of years ago and no longer available, actually there is not much available any longer - there was choice of quiche and salad or sausage roll and salad ( not my idea of a salad consisting of some leaves of spinach and a few florets of broccoli !) I asked if there were any other salad ingredients -no. This was at lunchtime and there was only one sandwich left and it was not particularly busy. Honestly, if you are going to the museum, have lunch beforehand or take a picnic to the park.

Noisy inside but lovely to see the garden through the glass; and there are plenty of tables & chairs outside. Service is fairly slow but friendly. A place to savour & enjoy rather than get a quick fix!
